Plans & billing
Firetrail's pricing has three moving parts, and here's each in one sentence. You pay per seat, per month — a seat is a member of your organization who holds one (everyone you invite gets a seat by default; owners can hand one back). Every paid seat includes 50 analyzed PRs per month, and if a busy month takes you past the included pool, each extra PR costs a small flat overage fee instead of forcing a plan change. Annual billing charges 10 months for 12 — about 17% off — with one difference: annual plans have no overage, so the included PRs are a monthly cap (add a seat for more, or stay monthly to pay per extra PR).
That's the whole model. No usage cliffs, no "contact sales to see prices."
One important definition: a PR counts once per calendar month, no matter how many times it gets analyzed. Firetrail re-analyzes on every push, and teams average about 2.2 analysis runs per PR — but you pay for the PR once, and the re-runs are free.
The plans
| Free | Starter | Pro | Business | |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Price / seat / month | $0 | $24 | $39 | $49 |
| Repositories | 1 | 2 | Unlimited | Unlimited |
| Analyzed PRs / seat / month | 50 (hard cap) | 50 | 50 | 50 |
| Overage per extra PR (monthly billing) | — | $1.00 | $1.00 | $0.75 |
| Classifiers | 4 of 10 | 4 of 10 | All 10 | All 10 |
| Custom classifiers | — | — | 10 | Unlimited |
| Review team | 1 reviewer (your pick) | 3 reviewers (your pick) | 6 reviewers (your pick) | All 10 |
| Turbo Analyses / seat / month | — | 1 | 3 | 5 |
(Business's cheaper overage is a volume discount.)
What each step up unlocks:
- Starter adds Classifier Analytics, three reviewers of your choosing on each project instead of Free's one, and overage billing instead of a hard cap.
- Pro is the full analysis experience: all ten classifiers, six reviewers of your choosing on each project, patch coverage (switch it on in organization settings — it costs a little per PR), Intent Drift and the said-vs-did view, the PR Quiz, Historical Chat, Team Comparison, and custom classifiers.
- Business puts all ten reviewers on every pull request, plus the forensic and enforcement layer: origin tracing, Merge Checks, unlimited custom classifiers, and priority support.
The Firetrail MCP — Firetrail's analysis inside your coding agent — is on every plan: any workspace can ask its agent for a Review Brief, a Security Audit or a Business Case, and Business adds Rework through the same connection.
Need custom quotas, or something the ladder doesn't cover? Enterprise plans exist — see pricing and reach out from your workspace.
The terms on your bill, translated
- An analyzed PR is one pull request that went through the analysis pipeline this month. It's the billable unit: a PR can rack up many analysis runs as you push to it, but it only counts against your allowance once.
- Overage only exists on paid plans billed monthly, and only past your included pool (50 × your seats). On Free there's no card on file, so the cap is simply a cap — analysis pauses until next month.
- Annual billing has no overage. A yearly subscription can't carry a per-PR charge, so on annual the included pool is a monthly cap, exactly like Free's: past it, new pull requests wait for the 1st, while pull requests already analyzed this month keep re-analyzing as you push. Adding a seat raises the allowance right away; switching to monthly billing brings overage back.
- You hear about it before it happens. The billing contact and the owners get an email when 80% of the month's included PRs are used, and another when they're all used — saying what happens next on your plan (extra PRs billed, or analysis waiting until the 1st).
- Free analysis can pause before your cap. Firetrail sets aside a monthly amount for Free-plan analysis across everyone on Free. When that month's amount is used up, or Firetrail is running close to its capacity, Free analyses wait — until the first of next month in the first case, until there's room again in the second. The app tells you with a banner, and paid plans keep running either way. Upgrading lifts it immediately.
- A Turbo Analysis re-runs the whole pipeline on a model with a much larger reading window, so a very large PR gets analyzed in full instead of partially. Each paid plan includes a monthly per-seat allowance.
Managing your subscription
Your organization's Subscription settings show the current plan, seat count, billing status, renewal date, and a usage bar for this month's analysis quota. A floating seat meter at the bottom of the page shows how many seats are active right now, the price of one, and what they add up to per month — it moves the moment you invite someone or switch a seat. Owners and managers can:
- Manage billing — opens the Stripe customer portal for invoices, payment methods, and receipts.
- Upgrade or switch plans — self-serve, with a preview of exactly what changes and what you'll be charged before you confirm. Upgrades apply immediately (you pay the prorated difference); downgrades take effect at the end of the current billing period, and you keep your current features until then.
- Downgrade to Free — you keep your paid features until the period you've paid for ends. You can change your mind any time before that with the "Keep plan" button.
Members & roles
Invite teammates by email from your organization settings. Each member has a role:
- Member — uses the product; can't change billing or team settings.
- Manager — everything members do, plus managing members, billing, and Merge Check configuration.
- Owner — everything, including the organization itself.
People you've invited who haven't signed in yet show an "invited" badge.
Every change to the roster is confirmed by email: the person gets their own note (you've been invited, your seat was switched on or off, you were removed, your role changed), and the billing contact plus every owner get a short record of any change that moves the seat count — so nobody is surprised by the next invoice.
If a payment fails
When a card is declined, Stripe retries it automatically over the following weeks. You get an email from Firetrail on every failed attempt with the amount, the next retry date and a link to update the card. While the payment is outstanding the Judges' team review is paused for your pull requests (risk analysis keeps running). If the last retry fails too, the subscription is canceled and your organization moves to the Free plan — and once the invoice is paid, a "payment received" email confirms everything is back on.
Seats
Every person you invite gets a seat the moment you invite them — a seat is what you pay for, and it's also what lets someone into the organization. Owners can switch a seat off for anyone but themselves. That member stays on the roster (their role is kept, and you can switch the seat back on any time), but until then they don't count toward your bill, and the organization is closed to them — they'll see a "no seat yet" note instead of its projects. Inviting someone again also hands their seat back.
Seat changes reach your subscription automatically: adding a seat is charged for the rest of the current period, removing one is credited, and both show up on your next invoice — never as a separate charge. Your included PRs and Turbo Analyses follow the seat count too (50 PRs per seat), so parking a seat also shrinks the allowance.
Promo codes
If someone at Firetrail gave you a promo code, it goes in the Promo code
field on your organization's plan page (Organization settings → Subscription),
right under the monthly/annual switch — or in the review screen after you
click a plan. The same field is on every plan, and you can also open a link
like app.firetrail.dev/login?promo=YOUR-CODE: sign in, and the code is
applied to your workspace for you.
A code is always a percentage off for a set number of months (or for good). Once it's on, the plan cards show the discounted price, and the review screen shows exactly what you'll pay and for how long. Some codes only work on one plan, on monthly billing, on a first subscription, or for teams up to a certain size — the page tells you which, in one line, if yours doesn't fit.
- On Free: the code waits until you upgrade and rides into checkout already applied. You still add a card; billing simply starts at the full price when the discounted months end.
- Already subscribed: the discount starts on your next invoice. Nothing is charged or refunded today.
- Annual billing: "3 months off" becomes 3 of the 12 months — a smaller percentage off the whole annual invoice, so the amount is the same as on monthly billing. The card spells it out ("3 of 12 months at 50%").
- Overage PRs are never discounted; a code covers seats only.
- One code per organization at a time. Remove it from the same field to use another.
